The Rio Celeste, located in the Tenorio Volcano National Park, represents one of the most extraordinary natural phenomena in Costa Rica. Its heavenly turquoise blue waters, the result of a natural chemical reaction between volcanic minerals, create a visual spectacle that seems to have come out of a fairy tale.
The expedition begins with a one-hour scenic drive through rural landscapes until you reach Tenorio Volcano National Park. The main 7-kilometer trail crosses primary humid tropical forest, where specialized naturalist guides identify endemic flora and fauna while explaining the geological processes that create the phenomenon of the celestial river.

The highlight of the tour is the Rio Celeste Waterfall, where the turquoise waters plunge 30 meters creating a natural pool of heavenly color. Although bathing is not allowed to preserve the ecosystem, visitors can observe from observation decks and capture spectacular photographs of this unique phenomenon in the world.
The trail also includes visits to Los Teñideros, the exact point where two transparent rivers come together to create the azure color, and Los Borbollones, natural hot springs where groundwater emerges bubbling from volcanic depths.
