Volcano Hike + Hot Springs Paradise Hot Springs

This experience combines exploring the historic trails of the Arenal Volcano with relaxation in natural hot springs, creating the perfect balance between active adventure and wellness. The hike passes through lava fields from the 1968 eruption, offering a unique perspective on volcanic geology and the natural regeneration of the ecosystem.
The Arenal 1968 trail leads through three different routes: Los Guayabos (1.7 km, easy), Las Coladas (3 km, intermediate) and El Bosque (5 km, advanced). Each route offers unique perspectives of petrified lava flows, ecological succession in volcanic areas, and panoramic views of the Arenal Volcano, Lake Arenal, and the Tilaran Mountain Range.

Guides specializing in volcanology explain the geological formation of the region, the impact of the 1968 eruption on local communities, and the natural regeneration processes that have transformed lava fields into thriving ecosystems. Participants observe pioneer plants, plant succession, and unique adaptations of species that colonize volcanic terrain.
After the hike, participants relax in Paradise Hot Springs, a natural hot springs complex with 8 pools of different temperatures (38°C to 42°C) fed by volcanic geothermal springs. Facilities include hot tubs with hydrotherapy, cedar sauna, exclusive infinity pool for guests, and relaxation areas with panoramic views of the volcano.
